On the Dawn of a Beachy Day

You know... I should really try and get into a more "normal" sleeping routine... I feel like I sometimes sleep through (almost) all of the daylight, and I happen to really like the sun.

It's 5 in the morning, and I'm supposed to be getting up to go to the beach in like an hour or two. I've been kind of up and down at the idea of this little trip. It almost didn't happen, but things turned around. Surf, sun (hopefully,) good friends, and good music should make it a wonderful time.

Speaking of music, I've been lacking in the blank CD department so I haven't been keeping up on this series of mixes I've been making. Russo brought me some yesterday. So I made two. (That brings me up to 9!) They feature lots of new music! I love new music. I made one here on my computer and one on my brother's... Did I mention that I've run out of hard drive space on my computer? I've downloaded too much music... I've had to store a lot of it on my brother's. (That's actually probably why I made two mixes.) ((IDEA! I'm going to make posts sharing my playlists! I'll make it a regular series here. I'll call it "Mix" followed by an appropriate roman numeral. ))

I watched a movie the other night called Mutual Appreciation. (On Netflix!) It was black and white and pretty interesting. I'm a sucker for quirky indie films, but this one was different. I wouldn't rate it fairly high in my list of favorite movies, but it was definitely worth watching. It's about this musician who moved to New York to pursue that career and ends up falling for his best friend's girlfriend. I ended up liking the best friend more than the main character (the musician.) He kind of annoyed me a little. I smiled and laughed a good bit throughout, though, so it was certainly entertaining. It felt quite real and honest. It was like watching my friends conversing, putting them in a little box and letting them go. None of the dialogue was too convoluted; it all sounded pretty genuine. Definitely worth a good look and listen. (The music wasn't bad either.)

Okay, so, maybe I'll try to keep this thing updated. I feel like it's one thing I can do. There are so many different portals online to share so many different things, and since I dabble in so much, it can be hard to keep track of it all. I think I'm going to try and consolidate most things to this blog: my photos, poetry, stories, thoughts, music, et al.

Even though there's light, good night.

My Soul Band/La Banda de Mi Alma

I'd like to let my soul be taken in
and let out through the brass of a trumpet
blaring along with the deepness of a bass
lead along by the strings
bobbing with the flare of the guitar
lightly lofted about by her voice
and for it to come back to me
and be
unrecognizable to those with an untrained eye
but be as apparent to me
as the brightest star in the sky..
/
Quiero que mi alma admítase
por el latón de una trompeta
resonando con la profundidad de un bajo
adelante por las cuerdas
mecendose con el sentimiento de la guitarra
lanzado ligeramente alrededor por su voz
y para que vuelva a mí
y sea
irreconocible a ésos con un ojo inexperimentado
pero esté como evidente a mí
como la estrella más brillante del cielo..

A "date".

This is Sarah, my "date".

We drove around, aimlessly at first.

We ended up here,
next to the river.
What a view... So, what did we do?

We flew.

We posed.

We laughed.
We flocked.We carved.

We loved.
We carved again.
And we loved, yet again.
But, as February normally goes, we got cold.
So that was it.
We went home.

...but why?

So I've decided this will be the way I'll share my thoughts, photos, and poetry with whoever cares to look. Soon in my possession will be a brand new camera with which I will take many a picture , but until then here's a lil' something I wrote, untitled as of yet:
(Happy Groundhog Day, by the way!)

All I want to do
is get in the car with you,
turn up the volume
til it would shake our bones,
slide in a mix with a numbered title,
and coast along the highway,
all worries left behind.
And the sun should shine so happily
that we'd have to put on our shades
and smile away with it.
And the road should run so smoothly
under the wheels
that we'd feel like birds floating on air
and nothing more.
And the song should be so perfect
that our ears turn gold
and the words dance
with ballroom grace across our minds.
And our heads will be so taken
that we'll miss the right exit
and not even care
cause we know the next would do.
And all I want
is for the sun to set
and the road to end,
the song to fade
and our heads to rest
so we can wake up in the morning
and faithfully do it again..
